Can't update software, and the Roku mobile app won't work

So, my Roku remote’s been dead for a few months, and I’ve been using the Roku app and/or the power button on the TV whenever I use it. It was perfectly fine until I went to use the TV and was met with the finalization of an update. Pretty normal. I let it run for a minute but it then says it couldn’t connect to my network and gave me 3 options. Go to my networks settings, restart the TV, or factory reset. I went to the app to fix the wifi, but the app won’t connect to my TV. No problem let me use the button, except the TV is unresponsive with the button, so now I’m stuck unable to use my TV unless I go out and buy batteries, which isn’t a hard task, but it’s annoying that it’s forcing me to do so instead of just letting me use the app or button. Either disable auto updates or just let me use the app or the button to navigate it.

    Hey, Alexbhatti99

    Thanks for sharing!

Please note that Roku devices are built to automatically update their software, and there is no option for users to disable these updates. These updates are essential for ensuring the best performance, security, and the availability of new features. Although users cannot prevent updates, Roku manages them to be downloaded and installed smoothly, minimizing potential disruptions.

    Thanks,

    Hey, Gungus

    Thanks for posting!

I understand you're having trouble with the OS update because of connectivity problems, and the Roku mobile app isn't working. I would like to know more about it.

Do you see error messages or error codes after trying to update? Please note that the Roku device and the mobile app should be on the same internet connection. If disconnected, replace batteries or consider buying a new remote if faulty, as connecting requires a remote.

    Thanks,
