Can't get cable to play on New Hisense Roku tv

We bought a Hisense Roku tv and the sales person assured us we could watch the cable WE PAY FOR.

I finally got to a screen that shows our cable company.  That screen says Press OK to watch tv.  When we press okay, a box shows up on the bottom of the screen that shows the cable box is plugged in HEM1 and some boxes with numbers , but NO TV. 

When we go to Live TV, the channels we pay for on cable are not there.

In a contract with the cable company and don't want to download these channels on streaming and pay again.

Please Help !!

    Who is your cable TV company? You would either need a separate cable TV box, or the proper app to access their Internet-based video. You cannot connect cable TV directly to a TV anymore. Most all video channels are digital and encrypted and a TV cannot tune and decode them on it's own.
