Black quality on Roku 40" Select model: 40r2a5r

Just got the tv today, noticed that any time the screen is black it seems a bit cloudy.  Portions of the screen are greyer than black, if that makes sense.  It's not pure black.  The picture quality, otherwise, seems ok so far.

Is this to be expected?  The tv I replaced was an older LCD and I never noticed this before.  Could it just be a side-effect of the screen being brighter?
