Battery usage excessive on remote

  • Thank you for posting here in the Roku Community, Bill1958

We appreciate you reaching out to us about the battery health concerns you're experiencing with your Roku remote. We would be glad to provide you with additional information and helpful suggestions.

While Roku remotes are built to be long-lasting, there are a few factors that can contribute to faster battery drainage.

    • Heavy usage of private listening on the remote itself--using the mobile app will save your batteries!
    • Congested Wi-Fi network around the device--the reason for this is that most remotes will use RF to connect to your Roku player and constant reconnection will use more battery.
    • Or viewing lots of short-form content, like YouTube, where a streamer could go through a few hundred button presses in an hour.
Furthermore, we offer a Roku Voice Remote Pro (2nd edition) with 50% more battery life than the previous edition, with USB-C charging that typically lasts three months per charge. Live TV is one button push away, and you can pull up your favorite apps and adjust settings, like closed captioning, at any time with the quick launch button.

In the meantime, we value your input and appreciate your feedback, as it helps us improve the Roku device features. Rest assured that our team will be aware of this, as your convenience and satisfaction are among our top priorities.

Let us know if there's anything else you'd want us to address. We'd be more than willing to assist.

  • This is exactly what is happening with our newer remote! So very frustrating and expensive to have to put in new batteries every 3-4 weeks. We have the Streaming Stick 4K with voice control

3~4 weeks?  We have had our Roku less than a month and the 3rd set of batteries just got replaced (Duracell).

ROKU - fix the remotes, in the long run (~6 months) it will be cheaper for me to buy a different streaming device.
