It’s just become completely intolerable. I’ve been a Roku user for about 10 years now and my Ultra works just fine but the user experience won’t stop getting worse, I’m looking into other options.

That only lets you control the type of ads, not disable them. This is a bait-and-switch: the product that was reviewed and purchased in the market has gotten demonstrably worse for the customer after purchase for no reason other than a desperate cash grab. I've been using Roku devices since the Roku 3, I own four currently, but this is an intolerable business practice and if this is what's to be expected from a Roku product I'll be replacing them with something else and warning everyone against Roku going forward.
