Video doorbell backplate wont come off to charge

I have a roku wireless video doorbell. My problem is the doorbell came out of the box with the backplate attached and I can't get it off. I'm sure there's probably some super secret easy way, but I've yet to figure it out. I can't charge the doorbell with the back plate covering the port so I'm dead in the water. Help??!@

    Supposedly you push hard in and up at the same time, but that may be difficult to do if it's not already mounted.
