Launch Roku Camera and Somehow it’s also launching Wyze servers?!

Hey Roku team and community—

I’m posting here because what I’ve uncovered needs serious visibility.

Due to confirmed device tampering with my iPhone, hidden MDM profile, I’ve been running Proxyman (SSL proxy tool) on both my iPhone and iPad and Mac, and every time I open the Roku Smart Home App (to check my Roku-branded indoor camera), I’m seeing live API traffic not just from Roku endpoints—but also from Wyze. Not Normal, not ok, and there’s no Wyze camera here, nor have I ever had one

Here’s what’s happening:

  • When the Roku app launches, it triggers POST and GET requests to api.wyzeiot.com, including /register, /get_object_list, and /set_phone_status.
  • The payloads include my Roku app version and device ID—but are being sent to Wyze servers, not just Roku’s.
  • These requests show my device as “com.roku.ios.rokuhome” but carry access_token, device_mac, firmware_version, even SSID and P2P device IDs (ex: F9YGRUFVALELYAVU111A).
  • One log even revealed an embedded Alexa link:
    "universal_link": "https://smarthome.roku.com/alexa/link"
    —which is especially disturbing, because I’m no longer part of any Amazon Household, yet I still see devices from a past shared account reappearing.

Bottom line:

  • Why is Wyze receiving and registering my Roku camera data?
  • Why is there active two-way traffic between Roku, Wyze, and Alexa domains—without my consent?
  • This looks like unauthorized cross-platform device tracking or silent integration between ecosystems that users aren’t clearly opting into.

I’ve got the raw Proxyman logs and screenshots—happy to share more.

This is a privacy concern. Roku needs to clarify why this is happening and what’s being shared behind the scenes. This is a major privacy concern, it’s illegal, and I would greatly appreciate any help that can be provided

    The cameras are made by Wyze.  You're not seeing anything unusual.
