Hi BuckeyeJoe,
Welcome to the Roku Community!
We are happy to have you here inquiring about the Roku Smart Bulb Color SE.
Yes, it is perfectly fine to use a Roku smart bulb in a lamp. You can simply control the brightness using the Roku Smart Home app on your phone and never use a dimmer switch.
For more details, you can visit our Roku Support article: Getting to know your Roku® Smart Bulb SE | How to set up your Roku Smart Bulb SE
We hope you find this information helpful.

Thank you for the response but I am unsure if my question was answered.
The lamp I want to use has a dimmer switch.
Can that lamp be used with the bulb even tho it has a dimmer switch as long as I never use the dimmer switch.

Hi there. Yes, you can use dimmer bulbs with a lamp that already has a dimmer switch. It's important to make sure your Roku bulb and dimmer switch are compatible with each other because some dimmers may not work properly with certain types of bulbs.
With that said the general answer is yes but I'd recommend doing your homework like your doing to make sure it's compatible.
What kind of dimmer do you have that you want to use the bulb with? If it a name brand maybe look at the dimmer's brand of lamp brand and see if that state any there webpage.
It doesn't sound like you're doing this but don't use a bulb that can't dim with a dimmer that wouldn't end well. Hope I was able to help a little and best of luck!
