Cannot Turn Off Motion Tagging

According to the help articles, there should be an icon that says “motion tagging” when you hit the “…” button in camera view. When I do that, my options are night vision, album, time lapse, siren, and power.

There’s a space for a sixth option that I assume should be where motion tagging shows up. I’ve turned off the camera, updated firmware, updated the app, and turned my camera off and on. I’m just trying to watch a bird nest so the purple boxes are unnecessary and impeding the image.

  • Hi nachonoche,

    Thanks for posting!

Motion Tagging doesn’t work on Indoor/Outdoor Cameras with Firmware 6.0 or later. That’s totally normal, so if you're seeing this, your device isn’t broken.

Please check the latest firmware version of your camera by following these steps:

    1. Select a device from the Home screen in the smart home app
    2. Tap Settings

      in the top corner
    3. Tap Device info
    4. Tap Firmware version to see the current software and build version and check for an update
    5. If a software update is available, tap Update

After the software update is finished, your smart home device will automatically restart.

    Thanks for your understanding.

      UPDATE for anyone reading:

I had to completely reset the camera and it worked. I no longer have motion tagging at all, as per the most recent firmware update, which is fine because I’m a 100 year old lady who’s just trying to watch my birds.

Thank you for your response, but this isn't quite the problem I'm having. I AM seeing the purple boxes. Motion tagging is working, in spite having firmware that was only installed yesterday. (7.0)

Are you saying that I should not be seeing these boxes? I am seeing the boxes, but I do not have the option to turn it off when I open the "..." menu.
