Video Tutorials Please

I would like to know if you can make a few video tutorials on youtube explaining the basic ways to develop a application for Roku. If you use one of the sample and give us a breakdown of each phase of codes. This will help with understand how each part of the coding works.

Also in the video can you explain how to use some of the code that is in the brightscript manual. I see information about command but Not sure how to put them together. Please make this video as this would be a major stepping stone for other to create new application

Will you make a video tutorial? If so when can me expect to see one?

  • I second. This sounds like an excellent idea. If some good tutorials are uploaded, we may see more quality channels.
  • Hey jseigle85,

It looks like RyanMarquiste posted to your other topic where you say you have this coming. Weren't you releasing a website today that did this? I've been waiting for your announcement that it is live, so wondering if you got delayed?

I hope not!!! I really am looking forward to seeing what you put together.

    Thanks
    Bud

PS - I'm still kinda bummed that Roku hasn't done this already. Seems like they could throw up a ton of YouTube how-tos in a day.

This is one of the things our new developer blog (http://blog.roku.com/developer/) aims to accomplish. I wouldn't expect many videos, watching us type is not that entertaining, but do expect tutorials and example code.

Excellent! But don't discount the power of video, demonstrating the basics (not specifically code, but environmental stuff like the various web and telnet interfaces) via video tutorials might be quite helpful to potential coders.
  • Roku Tube is now open. Here you can ask questions, view and post video tutorial on example application and your custom application. To get help on your BrightScript coding needs visit http://rokutube.com
