Im getting a Video request failure: -5 with this test file: http://www.flappybird5.com/player/jLW4r ... %3D%3D.flv any ideas?

Correct, the filename extension is irrelevant. What I'm saying is I downloaded the file and looked at the encoding, and it's FLV. You may want to try that.
As TheEndless mentioned, if you're downloading via https, you need to set the certificate file in your video player. If you're already doing that, the FLV format is probably the issue.
