  • I'm trying to grab the m3u8 of one of my own internet channels. If anyone can tell me how to find it, please let me know. This is one of the last few pieces I need to complete before submitting.

I have a few other things to get done too in case you know someone that can provide an estimate. PM with any info you may have.

    Thank you.

For UStream, it'd be a good idea to sign up for their developer program (it's free) - http://developer.ustream.tv/ - that will allow you to make a limited number of requests to their API per day to determine things like m3u8 file locations, if the channel is broadcasting live or not, etc etc. Most streams on UStream will play on Roku2 - Roku1 has more limited support - so it's best to test on both.
  • I have a stream key for justin.tv. If that is used with FME then perhaps justin.tv will play on a roku??

I think there's already a channel that plays Justin TV.

So yeah, somehow Justin.TV streams should work on Roku. I looked at UStream for a bit, haven't gotten back to it yet - but I've never played with the other sites.
  • Veetle gives the best quality video from what I have come across. I have a broadcast key for my justin channel which I think can be put into the FME. Would like to know how to make the veetle channel play on roku. I'm sure the coding community here will know a way.

But, I have to spend time now on my videos for the channel .I have a few things to complete and going to try and locate someone that does this type of work and get a quote. Getting closer to launching a channel and even after it does launch I have other phases of the channel of which I will also need a coder to do the work on it.

Thanks for your the help. I appreciate it.
  • Getting Justin.TV streams on the Roku is not an easy task, and I'm not at liberty to share the code that does it. The last time I tried Veetle, I found that their HLS streams used MP3 audio instead of AAC, which is hit or miss on the Roku (mostly miss).
  • I'm sure it is a task to do. I agree. I was just looking for a way to take one of my already existing channels and make it play within Roku.

I also have another live channel to build. I have not researched it as much while building the rest of the channel. I need this particular live channel for video production projects. I have read some on it but not enough yet to see what all of the pieces are. I believe it is FME is what many are using and believe I read some people are using wowza.
