the Netflix app - pure brightscript or custom programming?

The smooth high-speed scrolling up/down/left/right of the Netflix app - is that something that can be done with pure brightscript, or is there custom C programming going on under the hood? If I had a screen full of images and I wanted to scroll them like that, vertically, is that possible?
