Testing an example of iap question

I have a private channel and want to test an iap example within the private channel I already have built. What is the correct way of connecting the two for testing? I have the iap example with the source, images, etc. Does the iap just get added to the private channel packager to sideload? My guess is its more complicated than that, and I certainly don't want to undo my coding for the private channel and break it.
