Sky Now Box and Roku Channel Store

Sky launched a version of the Roku box for their Sky Now TV service in the UK.

The box is a mostly white version of the Roku 2 LT with Sky Now branding on the box and a the white remote control. The box is available for less than £10 ($16), although I assume it is subsidised by Sky Now service.

The content is restricted but does allow access to a version of the Roku Channel Store.

My questions are:

Will it have full access to the Roku Channel Store

Will out Roku channels be added automatically to its channel store?

If not how do we get our channels added to the Sky Now Roku Channel Store?

I've ordered one and am awaiting its delivery, will report back once I receive it. Feel free to ask me any questions too.

    No.

Sky chooses which channels they want in their channel store.

So the follow up question would be how does a channel developer get in touch with Sky in order to have their app considered for inclusion, or is this a situation of Sky saying to developers: "Don't call us, we'll call you"?

Also, should users of this box look to Roku (support.roku.com) & the Roku forums for help, or will there be entirely separate support/community sites?
  • I'm assuming as there is no billing mechanism for paid channels as your account is via Sky rather than Roku that even if they do add your channel, it would have to be a free to install one?
