Roku3 audio speedup/slowdown issue

We have the roku3 connected to an HDMI switchbox - so the LCD screen is shared between devices. When playing a video and pausing it, changing the hdmi source to something else, and coming back to the roku to unpause later, the framerate is slowed down to about 5fps, with audio running very slowly to match, or it is sped up to sound like chipmunks. Is there a way to programmatically fix this in a future firmware?
