roku 2 developer mode

I have roku 2 (I think software version is 4.1). I am trying to upload zip file using http://<<roku ip address>> in the browser. However, it fails even though I can ping to that ip address. After researching a bit, i found out I need to put Roku into developer mode by applying sequence 3x, Up 2x, Right, Left, Right, Left, Right.
I am trying that sequence but it does not put roku 2 in developer mode ( i dont see developer mode menu). I am thinking if anything changed for Roku 2??

The sequence is the same - press the buttons slower and make sure each press produces a beep. - ensure the screensaver isn't running before pressing home.
  • Yes each press produces click sound. I even paused for a second or more. It still stays on the same screen. I do not want to reset the system. My roku is the $59.00 one. Where do you see the developer menu? under settings? also, what is the use for port 8085? debug? I can telnet to port 8085.

You will know when you enter the sequence correctly as it will display an "enable" screen. Pausing for a second between each button press is way too long.

Please have a deliberate cadence when entering the remote sequence. It is sensitive to the speed entered (try about two keys per sec).
