RAF midRoll and number of ads

I just updated my channel to new feed and add more content to that feed. Also changed from MRSS to JSON.
I was testing this feed in a test channel (Not Published) and everything works fine (Just see one Roku or Volvo ad)
Surprisingly, After update I get 4 ad for each adbreak. I think this is too much and I may lose some viewer. I read somewhere that only one ad is standard for each adbreak,
Any idea?

  • I too thought it was 1 ad per break with RAF.  My channel is preroll only, fwiw I've never seen more than 1 ad. I remember reading all ad breaks were 1 ad as well though. Interesting as to whether something changed, or if it's because you're 'Not Published' yet.
  • It has been published and it plays from 1 to 4 ad each time.
For some files, I did not add any adBreaks but it shows one preroll ad!!
    Strange.
  • fwiw I'm preroll only. Pretty sure I saw 2 ads play before watching a video last night. Maybe they've made a change, if so, I would assume partially due to advertisers maybe (hopefully) increasing their ad spending on Roku.

Roku's typically slow to respond, so I'm not gonna bother them with such a question (choose your battles), but I'll keep an eye out & let you all know if I notice it continue and can confirm.
  • Are you using Direct Publisher, or coding via SDK/Scenegraph?

I don't think the link you needed is relevant for DP.
  • Good news gang!  I'm definitely seeing 2 ads on my channel for most breaks.  My channel is mostly shortform, and ads are preroll only. That said, this is a good thing. Also seeing some new advertisers too!  Which shows Roku ad sales must have closed on some good new deals, and they've expanded their advertisers.

For all the faults, gripes, lack of contact & responses, let's take a step back & allow this to sink in. I can't see it any other way, and I'm happy about this. Kudos Roku!
