Public vs Private Channel Question

I am currently developing a channel. After the build I would like to submit it as a public channel for the channel store.

If it is not accepted as a public channel, will I need to rebuild the complete channel again to make it a private channel whereby a code can be entered online to bring up the channel on the device?
