Live Stream not playing smoothly on Roku

I am running wowza server with wirecast for the live stream, but for some reason the live stream does not play smoothly.
Seems like some frames are moving, there is a slight delay.

Running on i5 Pc, with 25% CPU usage.
Tried running the stream through third party CDN provider, issues is still there. Also, tried running wowza at home with
5 MB upload. Same issue
Replacing the video card did not help either.
Tried different stream settings through wirecast.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

  • The biggest problem with broadcasting a live HLS stream and getting it to play smoothly is uploading your segments to the CDN in a timely manner.... This is where I would start debugging.

There is a stream monitoring script you can copy out of the encoding guide to help you monitor the uploading of your HLS variant stream segments.

  • I looked at the encoding guide and followed the wowza setup guide.

Im running the broadcasting through wircast on the same pc that is running the wowza server.

Those of you running your own wowza server.
Do you make any changes to the application.xml (other than the changes provided in the setup guide) to play the live stream smoothly?
I dont think its the encoding issue, I think it has to do with the wowza.

    here is the stream url

    Thanks in Advance
  • You only have 3x 10 sec segments in your live sliding segment window. We recommend 8x 10 second segments for smooth playback.

    thank you again
  • The wowza parameters for changing the sliding window size are:

    cupertinoPlaylistChunkCount (sliding window size)
cupertinoMaxChunkCount (make sure it is larger than window size)
  • Hi Kevin,
    First all thank you.
I tried but without results, I am working on main.brs from CUSTOM PLAYER (developer software).
From my Wowza Server, I put the properties on my Application.xml (Live Origin and on Live Folder).
My encoding is a H264 Baseline and not a Main, what do you think is it fine.
The audio is fine but the video is not smootly on Roku
    Do you have any suggestion?
    Thank you

  • What you are doing sounds fine to me. I went to look at your stream, but got a 404.
