How the contents authenticity verified?

Hello Team,

I am new to roku and plan on buying one for development purposes. I was going through channel list and saw tons of paid international channels with movies and shows.

Those shows and movies you can also found on youtube and other streaming sites.

So how does ROKU team check for the authenticity of videos/shows that the channel dveloper owns the copyright to it?

Just a thought?

  • My impression is that Roku is a platform provider and not a program policeman.
  • ...although the Roku TOS does require that a channel owner have the rights to the content on their channel. I believe they check that for public channels, and if they receive a complaint about a private channel, they will take it down.

    +1.
  • Sounds reasonable. I haven't created anything for public release so is there anything the developer needs upfront from the copyright owner saying that he's acting on their behalf? Just curious how it works for a public channel.
