Has anyone succesfully converted to API from DP?

I'm wondering if anyone has accomplished succesfully converting from DP to API without Roku having to get involve and "fix" anything?

Do you have to use the API to rewrite the app from scratch or does it provide the basic code from DP?

If it does the rpovide the code how do you download it in order to edit and repackage it?

I used to run under the API before DP, and I miss the instant results we got under api that are lacking in DP..
