Gridscreen issue hitting buttons too fast?

Roku 3100X
5.3 build 3063

Scrolling through the gridscreen too fast/hitting buttons repeatedly appears to ignore any further button presses, including home, for approximately 5 seconds. Pressing UP twice in rapid succession (even on row 8 of 12) exits the channel.
Can you fix this buggy behavior please? It worked fine before. When it exits the channel this way the roku home screen appears but also does not respond to any buttons until you press Home again.

    The problem appears to be weak batteries - the low battery indicator doesn't show on the home screen to give any clue as to the issue.
    Anyway, after changing the batteries it appears to be back to normal.
