Display the Progress bar

I noticed in the general roku foum one of the feature requests is to show the progress bar without needing to pause a video. We have a need in our channel for the ability to turn it on permanently. There is no mention of it in the SDK. Is there any way to control the visibility of the progress bar programatically?
