Cannot connect to Roku in development mode??

I have the weirdest thing going on with our Roku 2 unit. The unit is working fine and can stream properly and is properly set in development mode. However, when I try to connect from the browser or telnet into the device it always fails. I have checked the network for IP conflicts and everything is fine. Really not sure what has changed, but its like I can't get to it. Any ideas?

Thanks for any help.

Try to connect to port 8080.
If that works, make sure you have gone through the key generation process.
You can only have a single connection going at any one time to port 8085, and I believe that will only work while a development channel is running (or loaded and stopped).
If you exit the dev channel to the roku home screen, then the 'debugger' will be unresponsive.
  • Tried this, no connection on 8080. I even did a factory reset and set it up for development again. Its like it doesn't think the box is there. So frustrating, nothing has changed that I know of.

    Thanks for the help.
  • Can you point your browser to http://YOUR_ROKU_IP:8060/ ? You should see an xml document with details (serial #, etc.) about your Roku near the top. If you can't reach that, then you most likely have a network issue existing somewhere between the pc and the Roku. If you can reach that, then the problem *may* be with the Roku. That page should be available regardless of development mode being on or off.

I have the same issue, but i am able to see the device's info when going to the 8060 ip address. Tried rebooting the router and nothing. Any advice?

Also what are the local addresses of the Roku and the pc you're attempting to connect from?
  • If I try http://192.168.1.126:8060/ I get an instant failure. I am on 192.168.1.148 and the device is 192.168.1.126, the router is 192.168.1.1. Nothing else has changed on the network and if I check DHCP leases, it sees the device just fine.

Tried rebooting the router (and pc) yet? It sounds like the pc has no route to the roku, yet both have a route to the internet, which is..odd :).
