Cannot access my roku in development mode

Dear all,

I'm having some trouble accessing my roku in development mode.
I have been following the directions in this site (http://www.herofish.com/2012/01/how-to- ... r-channel/) but my roku doesn't answer requests in port 80 (so going to http://myrokuip/ doesn't work).

I can telnet to port 8085 and run genkey but I port scanned my device and I can only see ports 8080, 8085, 8086 and 8087 open.

How do I get to the web interface (as displayed here http://www.herofish.com/wp-content/uplo ... image4.png) ??

Also, do I need to run home 3x up 2 x left right left right every time I want to connect to the roku in development mode? Or is it enough to do it once?
And what about when I cut the power to it, do I need to do it again?

Thank you very much,
Luis

It sounds like your box isn't in developer mode. Port 80 would be open if it was.

That should have been home 3x, up 2x, right, left, right, left, right and you should get an option specifically asking if you'd like to "Enable installer". You only have to do it once. It will survive a reboot, but not a factory reset. If you do it a second time, it will give you the option to "Disable installer", so that's how you'd know for sure that it was enabled.

  • Thanks dude!
I was pressing left -> right, ... instead, argh!

    That worked!
