Depends on what capabilities they expose in the SDK. If you're planning on developing 3D games, it's probably a must, but the 2D stuff in the 3.0 SDK works pretty good on the existing boxes. I still do the bulk of my development on my old HD-XR to ensure as much backwards compatibility as possible.
