The sound quits when done with the first episode of any premium channel. When It happens on Disney, Prime or Netflix it's off on all of them
These things are just special purpose computers. Like their big brothers sometimes clearing things out by restarting** them can correct problems.
Depending on your Roku model you'll find the "System restart" under "Settings > System > Power", or if you have no Power option, under "Settings > System".
If a restart doesn't do it, or if you don't have sufficient control with the remote to navigate the Roku menus, you can also restart by pulling the power plug to the Roku for a minute or so then plugging it back in.
** If yours is a Roku TV with "Fast TV" start enabled, turning the set off/on just puts it in/out of a low power standby state and doesn't give you a complete restart. Use the restart methods above.

I have the same issue but it happens every time I watch any channel. Either the sound disappears or it gets extremely loud and the remote will not change it. I have found the only way to get normal sound is to do a restart which is annoying needing to do this each time I watch something. Is it the USB Roku stick? I purchased a new voice remote hoping for a solution but that didn't help.

Does the TV remote control the volume? I recall that my parents had a TV whose volume control would randomly increase to maximum and it was fixed via a firmware update.

Thank you for your response. Firmware update? Meaning? TV is updated. I purchased a new Roku remote which is the only remote I use because I'm streaming. My only other viewing option is Antenna and then I would use the TV remote.
