Roku wireless subwoofer popping noise

I have tried the resolutions offered for my roku subwoofer and none have worked. I’m still getting the popping noise. What can I do now is it covered under warranty?

    Roku:
Although I asked you not to run me in more circles, I had intended to comply with your instructions to play more coloring books and patty-cake (again, against my better judgment), I am unable to. I have a severe vision impairment. I set the Roku screen reader at a very slow rate, but I am not able to legibly write down the IDs you requested.
However, my tech support ticket is #8569063. During the MANY phone conversations I have already endured with Roku, one of the support ladies listened to the screen reader and noted all these numbers, so your computer already has this info. (Right?)

At this point, I must make the following observations:
    • I have endured these lovely popping noises for 22 days.
    • I am certain that both I and all others in this thread have satisfactorily compensated Roku for the item(s) now defective with the legal tender of their jurisdictions, without bouncing checks, counterfeit currency or stolen credit cards.
    • I have spent a great deal of time troubleshooting, phone calling, chatting; everything short of inviting you folks over for dinner.
    • My intuition tells me your techs knew about this issue fairly soon after Oct 31 and they likely knew the cause quickly after that. I’m not sure why tech companies (not just you, but also Microsoft, Apple, and Amazon) get their jollies by making customers provide this info, when they already know what the problem is; they just don’t want to admit it publicly.
    • I wonder: if all of us on this thread were to note the wonderful popping noises on amazon.com (where I bought the Streambar) and roku.com (right before Black Friday), would that compel a miraculous discovery and resolution of the problem?

And at no charge for consulting, I am going to provide the short-term workaround, so that we can all get back to enjoying our movies and music as we did prior to Oct 31:
    • Since it is painfully obvious that this issue was caused by OS 12.5 :
    • Open your Versioning / Update Channel Management Sofware.
    • Make a copy of OS 12.0
    • Rename that copy OS 12.6
    • Strap a parachute under its tiny little armpits.
    • Gently push it out the door onto the update channel for Streambars.
    • FOR CRYIN’ OUT LOUD.

FWIW, I solved my issue by replacing my setup with the Polk Magnifi AX SR2 setup. Absolutely zero popping noise over same gamut of tests. The issue is obviously OS 12.5 on the soundbar.

I own a 55 inch TCL R635 roku tv that is connected to a roku streambar pro, a wireless bass pro and 2 wireless speakers (rear). Ever since update 12.5 and now 12.5.5 my subwoofer and rear speakers have been making random popping/knocking sounds during playback of any audio. It doesn't matter which streaming application I use and there is no recognizable pattern, but it happens every few minutes and is really irritating. It ruins the viewing experience and I've since used a different TV to watch. My other TV; a 55 inch TCL R655 connected to wireless bass pro and wireless speakers (front) does not have and has never had this problem. I have tried every possible way to troubleshoot by re-pairing and resetting every single device to no avail. It must be something wrong with the software because I never had these issues with roku version 12.0. Is there a new version in development or can I downgrade to an older working version?

Our long national audio nightmare is over.

A downgrade to OS 12.0 fixed my popping noises with bluetooth audio streaming, which is how the issue manifested itself in my case. I had suggested the downgrade very early in the epic, and it would have curtailed much wailing and gnashing of teeth. But my jeremiads were eventually acted upon and for that I'm thankful. My Streambar, four speakers, and subwoofer are once again sounding very good.

Rey, or the other Roku folks will have to arrange the downgrade, and I am assuming it will fix the popping irrespective of the sound source, since most here starting noticing the flaw on or about November 1, the Night of the Living Pops. The downgrade took about 10 minutes for me.

        Thanks for the update, Ujsmithj!

Does this popping sound come up whenever you open the device or during streaming? Could you also route us to the issue by providing us a recording of it?

        Please keep us posted.

        Thanks,

        Rey

  • Having the same issue with my subwoofer making a random popping noise. This is the 2nd Roku subwoofer that has done this. Starting to get expensive. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Thanks!

Day 29 of the Roku Streambar Popping Noise Hostage Crisis.

Apparently the once universally-cherished ability to be embarrassed has passed away at Roku.

It is now late January and I last posted 12/26/2023 about this popping in the speakers issue, and STILL NO ANSWER or fix??!! It’s sad because I love ROKU and I would love the experience of surround sound without this MAJOR issue!!! Even worse is I dont blast or push any of these speakers as my volume only goes to 18 out off 100, and still popping starts. All 4 surrounds and subwoofer are less than 5 months old too. Idk what its going to take to fix this issue but it is making me regret going to ROKU avenue for sound. Also, there are several posts related to the same issue and still no answer?? We want help!!!

Yes, seriously! I've been having this problem for months. I've done everything suggested on these boards but it's still happening. I can see class-action coming soon. This needs to be fixed ASAP.

I have been having the same issue as well. Popping on all audio devices randomly on essentially every audio level. I have a family member with same devices on older OS with less issues.

I have provided SNs to hopefully expedite to a solution.
