YouTube TV app playback issue

I have a 32inch Sharp Roku TV mfg. in 2017. All of my apps work fine except the YouTube TV. It recently started buffering and will sometimes go back to the tv app homepage. This only happens on this app.

YouTube TV seems to have some buffering and kicks back to the home screen issues on your Roku. Let's try solving this!

Have you tried these steps below?

    1. Remove the app: Highlight the channel tile on your home screen and press Star to open the Options menu. Select Remove app and confirm.
    2. Restart your Roku device: Go to Settings > System > Power > System restart > Restart Now.
    3. Reinstall the app: After your Roku device restarts, visit the Roku Streaming Store and add the app again.

You can get more tips here! Hope this works.

As my Roku 2 XS aged, the first app that became unusable was YouTube (it was only three years old when this happened). I don't think Google makes any effort to make their apps work well with older devices, instead designing their apps to work best with the latest hardware. This just seems to be the pattern with any app from Google (who owned YouTube).

Your TV is 8 years old. I have a 42" Sharp Roku TV from the same timeframe, and we only use it as a computer monitor now. You could attempt to contact Google about their app's poor performance, but I honestly wouldn't expect anything to come from it.
