YouTube stopped working after pressing the remote buttons

This is not unusual for this to happen on my roku ultra.                                                                          Every other app streams perfectly.                                                                                                              Only the youtube+roku ultra combination gives me this problem.                                                            Every other device on the same network plays youtube perfectly. Roku stick, phones, laptops, PC etc.... I can cast through the app with my phone or anything else as long as I don't try to control it with the remote. As soon as I do, it goes black. if you hit the home button, you can start casting/streaming directly on the youtube app again. update over and over, power cycle, hard restart, remove and re-install the app. Then you can't log in, but you can still cast to the app, just don't touch a button on the remote.
Again, this only happens on the roku ultra playing youtube. Old roku stick is fine. Wait a couple of days and suddenly it works again. This has happened half a dozen times since I have owned it

    I have encountered this several times, but I couldn't tell you the earliest it happened. It has been at least months maybe even a year or so. Has been happening on occasion since I've owned it

    • There is no error message.
    • This is happening only on YouTube in combination with Roku ultra.
    • YouTube only
    • I have tried wired and wireless and I use hdmi
    • Model# 4802RW-Roku Ultra software version 14.5
    • If you select the YouTube app like normal it can stream off a phone, laptop or PC as long as you don't try to use the remote. It will go black if you do
    • If this unit loses power there will be a several color issues that will not go away until you switch tv inputs. This happens specifically with this unit. does not matter which TV it is attached to 
    • I have a Roku stick 3600x software version 14.5 that does not suffer the same malfunction. Same TV, same network                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       If you need more information, please let me know, and thank you for your attention

        To clarify the situation, This most recent version of this problem started after a Roku update that forced a restart. Was working fine until unit shut itself off and restarted

    It is now working. 

    Next time this happens (updates), I will use this as a reference and do the following:

    • Post thread to Roku community 
    • Confirm that the YouTube app works on every other device on the same network 
    • Specify Roku model, build and serial # including YouTube version and build #
    • Update and restart
    • Unplug for at least one minute and restart
    • Uninstall and re-install app
    • Update and restart the re-installed app
    • Wait to have problem escalated to another "Team"
    • Send Tracker ID and OS version (press the Home button five times, followed by the Back button five times)
    • Send an image or video (or both) that appears when I launch the app and turns black upon pressing a button on the Roku remote
    •  Wait for it to start working
