Same issue. Roku Ultra. Double-speed playback on second and subsequent plays on YouTube Shorts. Stop telling us this is our problem. This is a Roku problem. Fix it!
Hey everyone
Thanks for flagging this issue here!
Our team has reviewed the YouTube Shorts play at double speed. We are working on the issue and will keep you updated on the progress. I appreciate your patience and understanding.
Thanks again,
Roku Community Team

The problem of double-speed reply of YouTube Shorts on Roku Ultra has existed for months. You have chosen to ignore the issue, blame others, blame users, and have refused to fix the issue.
The Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max is on sale. My order is placed. My first Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max arrives tonight. I'll begin the transition off of your platform now.
Yes, Roku... Broken YouTube shorts on Roku Ultra IS YOUR PROBLEM. Fix it. Or customer losses will continue.

Agree. It is time to look elsewhere. It is just so patronizing to blame the user who clearly doesn’t understand that the real boogeyman is Google! Common sense says that it is the Roku code that broke ONLY the Roku Ultras in the Youtube Shorts. I swear my grandmother could have found the glitch in the code by now.

I think you should look elsewhere, @ the very least to implement a multi-platform streaming strategy (something I recommend for all users - I recommend 3 different platforms), so that when an app/service breaks/has issues on one platform (device) you switch to another platform (device) - this can be achieved for as little as $20-25 for a 4K/HDR/Atmos-capable device (e.g. $20 ONN 4K Streaming Box; or $25 FireTV Stick 4K Gen 2).
However, no one is blaming the user - the performance/functionality/behavior of Google's YT/YTTV apps (on all platforms, including RokuOS) is 100% the responsibility of Google, and they have made things far more difficult for themselves on RokuOS because they use different YT/YTTV app versions/builds for different Roku models/model types: e.g. a 4850 (Ultra) has a different YT/YTTV app version/build than a 4802/4800 (Ultra) or a 4670 (Ultra); or a 4850 (Ultra) on OS 14.1.4 may/will have a different YT/YTTV app version than a 4850 (Ultra) on OS 14.5.4, or on OS 14.6.4, etc.
While it may be frustrating for a user that doesn't realize that Google is 100% responsible for designing/developing/engineering/fixing/distributing the YT/YTTV apps (on all platforms, including RokuOS), it is the case, and Google is 100% responsible for fixing their code in their YT/YTTV apps, including on RokuOS.
Again, the obvious reason that only (some) Ultras experience the issue was previously explained (see my previous post for current YT app versions for different models) due to Google using different YT (and YTTV) app versions/builds (with different code) for different models/model types (and RokuOS versions).
The most likely reason the code hasnt been fixed (yet) is because Google likely loses/does lose track of which YT versions/builds apply to which models (and RokuOS versions/builds), and that makes issue tracking/reporting far more complex and convoluted - a problem created and continued by Google (not Roku).
If you havent contacted Google/YT CS about the issue (its a pain), you should, since they are the responsible entity (just make sure you give them all the pertinent info, including exact Roku model #, exact YT app version+build, and exact RokuOS version+build).
