Youtube goes black regardless on home screen or playing a video

A few months ago YouTube would black out until a button was pressed regardless on the main screen or playing a video. It was a known issue and eventually it was fixed, but after the update on 11/1, Roku broke it again. Can we get this issue fixed and how do we disable the auto update because the developers aren't doing their due diligence in testing before releasing?

  • Hi, Teejayr DSchreiber

Thanks for posting here in the Roku Community regarding the issue you've encountered with YouTube.

Let's try to troubleshoot this issue for a fix. Kindly follow the steps below:

    1. Navigate to the channel tile on the Roku home screen, press the star (*) key on your remote, and choose "Remove channel."
    2. Next, restart your device from Settings > System > Power > System Restart (If you do not see a Power submenu, skip to the next step).
    3. Once your player/TV starts up again, go to "Streaming Store" on the Home screen, and add the channel back once more.

        Hello Kash,

Removed and readded as requested. 2 out of 3 of my Roku has this issue.

Before and after pic. Typically 2-6 seconds is when it goes black.
