this is a wrong answer entirely. Roku does indeed stop the mute button (in live tv is where i saw it) from working on your tv when its an ad, and sometimes inadvertently when it isnt. I have not checked lately because i gave up, if i want mute or care anymore i grab my real remote for the tv and mute as it works 100% of the time. This wishy washy roku mute is bypassable
anyway my response is not directly youtube related so please delete it. I cant find a delete option
My experience falls in the apps I use on my roku. I have Philo and Amazon Prime streaming into my tv. I only have a roku device. When I watch a show on either Philo or Prime, and I use the mute function on the roku remote, it works fine during the show. It mutes indefinitely until I unmute it. However that being said, when an ad starts on any channel and I mute it, after five seconds it 😒UNMUTES😒 itself as if by magic. I hit the mute a SECOND time, and it mutes again for a few seconds then it magically unmutes it a second time!!! Then I hit the mute a THIRD time and THEN it stays muted!!! THREE TIMES I HAVE TO HIT THE MUTE FOR IT TO STAY MUTED!!!!
TELL ME SOMEONE ISN'T MONITORING THIS THING AND MANIPULATING IT~~ only overrides my mute command during their **bleep** advertisements??? C'mon People WAKE UP!!!
