Youtube app update please help me

You can't fast forward more than 30 seconds before it tries to make you skip to the next "chapter" in the video. Long pressing the select button doesn't pull up the option menu anymore. You can't flip thru the home page without pausing in between or the app freezes. There wasn't an issue 2 days ago.

  • Hi hacobfa1,

    Welcome to the Roku Community!

Thanks for letting us know about the behavior you've encountered while streaming YouTube on your Roku device.

In some cases, removing the channel and then reinstalling it may help. To ensure the process is successful, follow the steps below, making sure you restart your Roku device before adding the channel again.

    1. Remove the channel. Highlight the channel tile on your home screen and press the Star button on your Roku remote to open the Options menu. Select Remove channel and confirm.
    2. Restart your Roku device: Home>Settings>System>Power. If you do not see a Power submenu, skip to the next step, "System restart.
    3. Reinstall the channel. Visit the Roku Channel Store and add the channel again.

For detailed instructions, refer to this Support link: How to resolve a channel playback issue.

Please keep us posted on how it goes, and we'll continue assisting you from there.

    All the best,

    hacobfa1-

It is Youtube's app.  They provided a Roku-compatible version of the app and maintain it.  Roku just provides the platform on which it runs.

Roku relays your key presses to the channel app being viewed.   What the app does in response to those key presses is up to the programmers of that app.
