Why verify sign in every time?

Lately, every time I sign in to the community site, I'm then told to retrieve a code from my email, to put into the form, which then takes me back to the sign in page, and then I'm finally back in.
WHY????   Why the two-step extra "security"?  To protect what? And why every time, this isn't my bank, or healthcare site, it's just a public forum.... It's just a lot of extra clicks and hoops to jump through, for no good reason.

Unfortunately, the 2-factor authentication is used for both your Roku account and the Community account. (since use same account to access both).

You can disable the 2-factor authentication by logging into your Roku account (https://my.roku.com/account).  The toggle setting is located under 'Account Info'.

  • Yeah, it’s definitely frustrating. The repeated verification is likely an overcautious security measure, but it feels unnecessary for a public forum. A “remember this device” option would make the process much smoother.

      Hey, mrsimon007

We understand that repeated verification can be inconvenient. Because your Roku account also provides access to the Community, two-factor authentication is automatically applied to both for added security.

If you'd like to turn off two-factor verification, please follow these steps:

      1. Sign in to your Roku account.
      2. Find the Account info section.
      3. Locate the setting for two-factor authentication and toggle it off.

Hope it helps! Let us know if you need more info

I don't see anything labeled "Account Information", anywhere in my settings, and this 2-step stuff is a pain in the **bleep** to have to do every time.
I take that back, following your link brought me to it, (so what is my account settings arrived at via the top right hand corner icons?), and I've already deselected the double step verification, yet, of course, it made no difference, as I still am asked to do it!  smh

Because it is Roku, the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing.  Too many independent teams that do not communicate with each other has been my experience.

I am still randomly asked for 2FA when using the mobile app and every time I have to login to the SmartHome app which is a disaster. I have had 2FA disabled since it was introduced and it has worked fine for access to the Community forums and my online account settings but not so much for their mobile apps.
