Why is the picture so dark, when viewing via the website?

For some reason, whenever I watch on my computer, the picture is very dark. I have the light turned up in my system preferences, and I can see no screen controls on the page, so what can I do?

    Hi Lollylmh

    Thank you for the post!

If you are experiencing a dark picture when viewing a website on Roku, there could be a few reasons why this is happening:

    • Check the website's video player settings: Some video players have brightness and contrast controls that you can adjust. Look for settings like "Brightness," "Contrast," or "Gamma" in the video player to see if you can improve the picture quality.
    • Check your computer's display settings: Make sure that your computer's display settings are configured correctly. Go to your computer's system settings and check the brightness and contrast settings.
    • Check your browser settings: Some web browsers have settings that can affect the brightness and contrast of the web pages you view. Check your browser's settings and look for options that may affect the brightness or contrast.
    • Try a different browser: If the problem persists, try viewing the website using a different web browser. Some web browsers may be more compatible with certain video players than others.
    • Check your monitor's hardware settings: If your monitor has hardware settings for brightness and contrast, make sure they are set correctly.

    We hope it helps!

    Warm regards,

Thanks for the suggestions, however, I'm talking about viewing Roku on my computer, not viewing a website on Roku. So the website's video player & settings are Roku's, not mine. My computer's brightness setting is up, and as for the browser settings, they're exactly the same settings whether I watch a video on Roku.com, or YouTube, Facebook, etc, etc.  So that shouldn't make a difference.  I thought possibly the settings I have for my Roku TV might be transferred to the site, since I often have the screen set to "darker", especially if it's late at night. So I turned it back to Normal, to see if it changed the view on my computer screen, and it was a bit inconclusive.. I'll have to try it again...

        Thanks for following up.

May we ask if have you tried using a different browser (such as Chrome or Firefox) to see if there's any difference? Are you streaming on the website? If so, does the issue occur on a specific title for a tv show or movie? If possible, could you send us a screenshot/photo of what you are seeing?

Keep us posted on what you find out.

        Regards,
