Why is the Angel app not working on Roku?

Why is the Angel app not working in Roku??

  • Hi Anikagatorbert,

    Thanks for keeping us updated.

If you've tried the troubleshooting steps and videos from other apps that work fine, it's time to contact the customer support team for the app that's giving you trouble. Remember, the app developers manage the channels on Roku, so any problems with that specific channel probably need an update from them.

Just let us know if there's anything else we can do to help!

  • This does not work!! You keep giving this to me. I've talked with Angel Studios ( as I told you already). They say that at Roku something is stopping it from connecting to Angel Studios, that's exactly what the error says. I told you my friend brought his fire stick to my house and Angel App connected no issue. Besides every other app works fabulous on Roku. It all began when a few weeks ago I got two updates from Roku. From that point on Angel App put out that error. Angel has always worked for years until now. ITS NOT MY SYSTEM ALL THE OTHER APPS WORK GREAT. SOMETHING OCCURED DURING THOSE UPDATES. I've said this over and over. Please hear me this time. Enough is enough. Get with Angel and figure this problem out please!

I just installed Angel (Angel Studios) back to my Roku devices since I hadn't used in awhile and seemed to operate fine. (only can stream the free content since I do not have a member subscription).

Worked fine on my devices and an older Insignia RokuTV.

Before Angel had a Roku app, we had to Screen Mirror from the website through the Roku or use a laptop with a HDMI cable directly to TV. (bypass Roku).  Perhaps you can try one of these methods until you can resolve your issue.

As is usually the case, though, this is likely not a Roku issue.  It is more apt to be either an Angel app or a network issue on your end while using the Roku.  Are you using any type of router VPN, firewall, or ad-blocking/pi setups?  Firesticks are more friendly to all those so not always surprising when a channel/app can work on one device and not another.

To remove Angel app, you should be able to highlight the app and press asterisk (*) button on Roku remote, then select 'Remove App'.  On some apps, if you have/had a paid subscription, you need to cancel it first.  On even some others, it is being reported that you cannot remove an app until the subscription period runs out (even after cancelling).

However, you can try using the official Roku mobile app to remove stubborn apps.  Just long press on the app and select 'Remove App'.  https://www.roku.com/mobile-app

    Hey, slhansen.

    Thanks for reaching out here!

Here's a suggested fix you can try.

    1. Remove the channel: Highlight the channel tile on your home screen and press Star to open the Options menu. Select Remove channel and confirm.
    2. Restart your Roku device: Go to Settings > System > Power > System restart > Restart Now.
    3. Reinstall the channel: After your Roku device restarts, visit the Roku Streaming Store and add the channel again.

In the meantime, you can get more troubleshooting tips here!

        Welcome, Anika!

Thanks for trying to troubleshoot. If this is the only app giving you trouble, it’s best to contact the app provider directly since Roku channels are handled by their own developers.

It is not working.  There is no option to remove the app.
