Why is DirecTV login not working on my Roku TV?

I have downloaded DirecTV stream onto my Roku TV. It does not matter how many times I sign in with the correct user ID and passcode, it tells me credentials are incorrect. It is doing this on two different Roku TVs.

I can sign in to DirecTV all day long with the same user ID and password with my phone and watch DirecTV but for some reason will not work on our two Roku TVs. One is at my house one is at my boyfriend's house. So it is not the same Wi-Fi network that is creating this problem. And our Roku TVs are two different brands, mine is an onn and his is a TCL.

I have tried to sign into DirecTV on and off for a few days in a row between the two TVs. But I have been trying to sign in extremely late at night or the wee hours of the morning. At first I chopped it up to maintenance. But it is still doing it. Did not know if anybody else is having this problem if so what can I do?

  • Did you get this resolved? I'm having the same issue right now. I've spent SO much time on the phone with DirectTV with zero resolution.

Is your DirecTV subscription to the DirecTV satellite service or is it to the relatively new DirecTV Stream streaming service?

I have the same problem.  Same userid/password work for my Apple TV and Roku enabled TV.  But my two Samsung TV's with Roku sticks have stopped working.  I have tried:

      • Resetting my Directv Stream password
      • Deleting the Directv App and re-adding it
      • Deleting these devices from my Roku account and re-adding
      • System reset of stick
      • Factor Reset of Stick

No matter what I do I get the error:

Please Sign In with DIRECTV STREAM

                               Info

Please sign into your DIRECTV STREAM account online to manager your

                               Service

                                  OK

Any idea what else to try?

I have the exact same problem, getting the same message.  I have wasted so much time with AT&T support, they have been no help.

I cannot login on Directv stream on my new Roku 4K stick. Directv says this problem is not on their end and I should talk to someone at Roku. I tried Roku's Get Human. But, no call back yet. Has anyone had this same problem with Directv Stream?

        Thanks for the post.

Try removing the channel from the Roku home screen by navigating to the channel tile, pressing the * key on your remote and choosing 'Remove channel'. Then restart your device from Settings>System>System restart. Once your player starts up again, add the channel back once more. After re-installing the channel, try re-authenticating the channel.

Does this clear up the issue you are seeing?

If you are still unable to resolve the issue, you'll want to contact the channel provider support directly to inquire further. Many channels on Roku are developed and maintained by the channel provider themselves.

        Thanks,
        Danny

  • Same issue here. I can log in just fine on my Amazon Firestick and on my mobile phone, but none of my roku sticks will allow me to sign in to Directv Stream. It just loops back to the log in page. I too have tried getting help with Direct TV Stream support and they were not able to give me any answers. Sounds like this is a common issue though. Really hoping someone has a solution. If not, I may have to replace all of my Roku devices with Firesticks. Such a waste of money. :(

The current hypothesis is that because I have an existing Direct TV Satellite subscription tied to the same email address (account), my login attempt is trying to connect to the satellite service rather than the streaming service. My service provider is currently working on decoupling my satellite service from my account and we will see if that solves the issue for me.

THE SAME THING IS HAPPENING WITH MY STREAMING ACCOUNT.  WE HAVE TRIED REMOVING AND ADDING AGAIN WITH NEW PASSWORDS, ETC. ALL SORTS OF ITTERATIONS HAVE NOT WORKED TO ESTABLISH THE SERVICE WE HAVE HAD FOR YEARS.   NOTHING HAS WORKED FOR OVER A WEEK.  DIRECTV IS A NO SERVICE COMPANY - JUST CALL THEM FOR HELP!

  • I am having the same issue. Has this been resolved?

Question for the original poster, did you migrate from DIRECTV satellite service to DIRECTV stream? Are you using the same email that you used for the satellite service?

I’m not the original, but I did migrate from satellite. One of the steps dtv stream had me take was to setup a new email for my login and it didn’t resolve. So frustrating.

I was  able to resolve the issue.

The problem is for those that are migrating from another att video service, e.g. DIRECTV satellite and that account was linked to myATT. If you used the same email as the myATT login or the same email as your previous video service, the Roku app will not work even though other apps (iPhone or Apple TV) work just fine.

the solution is to open a new DIRECTV Stream account with an unrelated email and DO NOT LINK this account to myATT. Note when ordering a new DIRECTV Stream service there is an option to use a previous ATT email - DO NOT USE. Set up DIRECTV Stream as if you have ZERO relationships with ATT.

I then had to call ATT and cancel the previous account (i.e. the one that was linked to myATT and that used the same email as DIRECTV satellite) that wasn’t working on the Roku device

This is what I did and it worked for me.

  • It is obvious that Roku & DircTV Stream have known there is an issue. They also have done nothing about. Boy this is miserable service. Apple iTV works great with DirecTV Stream, Roku no. AT&T is really hurting customers by allowing this pathetic customer service to continue. Roku, I have no idea.

I spoke with DirectTV satellite support last week on another matter.  The representative mentioned they were aware of the sign on issue and have had several customers switch back to satellite because of the problem.

  • I'm a long time Roku user and have never had difficulty with apps. But now, I've become a DirecTV Stream subscriber as I'm trying to migrate to streaming only. However, I cannot get past the login screen on the DirecTV Stream app. I've been able to login successfully to DirecTV Stream on my iPad and Apple TV, but not Roku. I've checked for updates on both the app and Roku device, ensured my equipment is supported, I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app after restarting the device. Absolutely nothing works. Help!?! Is anybody out there experiencing this? What else should I do?

I have been having same issue for 2 weeks. I can login and watch from my iPad but not on TV with roku.  I Called DIRECTV stream today and canceled my subscription.  They did advise that I had not activated y account. You may want to call them to see if your account has been activated.

        Thanks for the post.

We would recommend trying to do the following steps:

        1. Logging out of the channel (if you have tried to authenticate the channel)
        2. Remove the channel
        3. Restart the Roku device
        4. Adding the channel back again
        5. Re-authenticating the channel with your account credentials

If you are still unable to resolve the issue follow those steps, you'll want to contact the channel provider support directly to inquire further. Many channels on Roku are developed and maintained by the channel provider themselves.

        Thanks,
        Dann

  • I was just informed by DTV stream that only certain Roku Models are compatible for DTV stream, sure would be nice if they gave you this info when you purchased the service. Only the X models are compatible. and looks like only Samsung and SOME vizio TVs are.

I followed the suggestion of an earlier reply and solved the problem quickly. I started a free trial with a different email address unknown to DirecTV. Worked just like it was supposed to.

If you have EVER had an account with ATT or are converting from satellite service, you need to use different email address for the streaming account.

  • Yes, I am having the same .  It worked when I first added Directv streaming. DirecTV says it's not them because I can still get it on my computer, but not on my TV though Roku.
