Why is AMC Plus not working? Unable to play video

When i attempt to stream anything on AMC Plus (purchased through Roku) it brings me back to the show page. If i hit 'resume' it comes back to the page as well. I've deleted and restarted and everything I've read on community threads. I prefer not to go back to Sling for AMC Plus but if this cant be resolved i have no other recourse. I just wanna watch Fear the Walking Dead.

  • You have to contact AMC about issues with their channel. Roku did not develop it, and has no ability to resolve an issue with it.

You didn't really state what the issue is, other than a particular title wouldn't play. Does that mean it's not even listed as something available to watch, is there an error message when attempting to play the title, or something else? What is the model number (not the name) of your Roku player?

  • Hi Dn31,

A warm welcome here at the Roku Community!

Thanks for reaching us here with your query. We'd happily provide you with the AMC plus app/channel's customer support. You can also email them at customerservice@amcplus.com or directly contact their line at (877) 262-4450.

Let us know if there's anything else we can be of assistance with and we'd be happy to continue doing so.

    Warm regards,
    Carly

I am having AMC Plus issues also. I can not watch anything now I keep getting "We're sorry this content is not included in your subscription. error code 403 source provider".

I downloaded the app separately, I do not have it through Roku. I have (going to be had) a year subscription

Good luck finding a phone number. I am currently working on getting it fixed. the email I used and have made contact with is: customerservice@amcplus.com. This is the 2nd of a series of emails I have done this twice now no luck:

        Hi Robert,

We're sorry to hear you're having some trouble with that. Other members reporting this issue have usually solved it by one of these steps:

        • Delete the AMC Plus app
        • Reboot your devices
        • Make sure all your devices have the latest versions.
        • Reinstall the app
        • Then sign in again

If you tried this and are still having trouble, can you please answer the following questions so we can assist you?

        • Are you able to log on via amcplus.com?
        • What devices are you using? (Tv brand/model? tablet? mobile? laptop?)
        • How are you trying to watch? (AMC Plus app? amcplus.com?)
        • Are you still getting an error message? If yes, please let us know what the message says verbatim or even better, please send a screenshot.
        • If you can provide us with the information requested above, hopefully we can have our tech team suggest a solution to this issue for you.

        Thanks,
        AMC Plus Support Team

Hats off to smcsmc727. I followed his direction and did a factory reset on my Roku device. You will have to reenter most of your passwords.

      I have had to:

      1. Set up the internet/ modem and had to pair remote,
      2. I then downloaded the AMC Plus app first.
      3. Updated AMC Plus before attempting log-in
      4. Logged in. Seem to be working now.

I have the Stream stick+ (about 3 years old) and using about a 10-year-old Sharp Aquos

  • I just signed up for AMC Plus on the web, and then added the channel to my Roku 3 in the bedroom, and my Roku Ultra in the living room.  No problem with the older cheaper Roku, but in the living room it lets me log on to AMC Plus, but won't let me play anything.  I get this error message each time I try:

"We're sorry, this content is not included in your subscription"

    Error Code 403_RESOURCE_PROVIDER

Anyone know how to fix this?

After switching out various streaming devices so I could watch AMC Plus in the living room, this morning I bit the bullet and made one last ditch effort to fine a solution to AMC Plus not being playable on Roku Ultra.  This is what worked for me.

I did a Factory Reset on the Roku Ultra, which basically is like taking it out of the box for the very first time.

      1. Factory Reset which requires reactivating the Roku Ultra, getting an email, entering a code, etc.
      2. Pairing remote to your TV.
      3. The final step necessitated entering my identity (email address) and password for half of our premium streaming channels.  I started with "the problem child" AMC Plus to verify that this corrected the issue, before I wasted a lot of time signing back into the rest of the channels. It did.

Don't ask me how or why, but some of the streaming channels seemed to remember my credentials and didn't require me to sign in again.  Others I had to do all over again.

This worked for me, I hope it fixes your problem.

Thanks, and you deserve kudos for the fix but... that is a lot of hassle and inconvenience for an app that does not work that we have paid for. We basically paid for something that did not exist and they are still advertising it as available on Roku despite all these issues. It's basically take the money first, work out the issues later. They know there is an issue and are still selling the product. They either send canned replies or say they are working on it. Are they working on adjusting the sales ad?

Sorry to say I took the path of least resistance.  After spending 2 hours on this problem, I opted to disconnect the Roku Ultra, and use an Amazon Firestick I had laying around.  It works perfectly with AMC Plus and our 8 other streaming channels.  I'll monitor this in case someone else finds a solution, but basically, my immediate need is taken care of.  It's a shame the most expensive device with the most bells and whistles can't do the job the cheaper Roku can, but I guess that's a function of more complex technology not "playing nice with others."

For the record, before I bailed I contacted AMC Plus, Roku, read dozens of online articles, and viewed several Youtube videos.  In addition, I tried the few suggested solutions, some listed on this forum, before I decided since I had an alternative solution, to suspend my efforts to get the Roku Ultra to work with AMC Plus.

  • I'm having the same issue and this has happened another time. My husband can't watch Fear the Walking Dead like I did earlier. They better comp us for this.

      Hi Wolffl9 Viv180,

We appreciate you for reaching out to the Roku community!

If the issue is only with the channel alone, this is a good indication that there likely an issue within that specific channel that will need to be addressed with an update from the channel publisher. Channels on Roku are created and maintained by each channel publisher. In this case, you'll want to reach out to that channel publisher directly to share your feedback.

Thanks for your patience regarding this issue.

      Regards,
      Mary

Obviously AMC Plus and Roku are business partners. AMC Plus advertised the **bleep** out of their standalone app as working with Roku stick over Black Friday. And Roku allows customers to pull down the AMC Plus app from the channel store. It DOES NOT work. You’d think Roku would want to be apart of the solution especially since there are so many complaints. Instead Roku and AMC Plus are pointing to each other as the problem. Neither company is helping upset customers solve the issue.

I canceled my AMC Plus subscription today (11/24/2021). Looks like I am going to be out of the yearly subscription I did directly with AMC. I activated AMC Plus on the Roku channel and it is playing fine. DO NOT subscribe directly from AMC.

  • After several emails back and forth about the 403 error code, this is the final reply I got from AMC Plus. Basically, don't call us we'll call you.

Thanks for getting back to us and providing that information.

Our tech team is looking at this issue to see if they can find a solution. In the meantime―if possible―you may want to try using a different device to access content (amcplus.com on a web browser)

We'll reach out again when we have a fix to try or if we need more details from you. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience as we try to sort this out.

I also took easy way out. I just activated AMC Plus from within AppleTV until this mess gets sorted out.  I feel taken for a ride by AMC by signing on for a whole year. Now I’m basically captive and haven’t heard any talk of refunds or ways out. Will turn off the AppleTV version once the standalone Roku app is fixed, but will have ended up paying more. Looking forward to the end of my contract in standalone app. AMC Plus looks and behaves much better from within the AppleTV app.

The actual solution that works for me is:

      On Roku Tv open Settings->Privacy->Advertising.

      UNCHECK Limit Ad Tracking.

      Then reset Advertising Identifier.

      Then Settings->system->Power->Restart device.

After restart open AMC+ App.  You should be able to watch everything now.

I found this solution and realized it made sense after the web version was blocking playback in my Brave Browser because of the ad blocker.  My Roku TV is playing AMC+  content now!

Don't do a whole TV reset.  You just need to uncheck Limit Ad Tracking and reset your Ad ID

I have contacted AMC Plus they have been very helpful. The full error message I got was; 'We're sorry this content is not included in your subscription. error code 403- source- provider'.

This was the solution from AMC customerservice@amcplus.com:

'We're sorry to hear you're having some trouble with that. Other members reporting this issue have usually solved it by one of these steps:
      • Delete the AMC Plus app
      • Reboot your devices
      • Make sure all your devices have the latest versions.
      • Reinstall the app (recheck to see the app is updated)
      • Then sign in again

Next Steps: If you tried this and are still having trouble check to see if you are able to log on via amcplus.com?

If you CAN watch by using amcplus.com then the issue is with the app I would contact AMC  customerservice@amcplus.com.

I tried all of this and the App still does not work.  I paid for a year subscription through amcplus.com..  very disappointed.  I can log in, but cannot go to any channels or watch anything.  403 code every time.

  • AMC Plus Roku TCL and the (403) reminds me of the infamous HBO Max affair. I just called AMC Plus and on the ball, San Antonio area rep picked right up. He's been getting invaded with 403s. He says that they will get on it. I trust him. In the meantime, watch it with another media device.
