Watch TCM not receiving new content

I have the Watch TCM Roku channel app authenticated with a DirecTV account.  Typically new content is added frequently, sometimes several times a day.  Each is marked with an expiration date that can vary from a few days to a few weeks in the future.

My installation has received no new content in several days now.  The last new entry was "Cleopatra Jones and the City of Gold".  Aside from that the app functions normally and content already present can be viewed, added and removed on my watchlist, etc.

I have removed the app, restarted the Roku, and reinstalled the app.  I have logged out of the app and logged back in to reauthenticate with DirecTV.  Still getting no new content.

Are others seeing the same thing?

As TCM is part of the Warner Brothers stable, and WB is reported to be making cutbacks, I fear this may be the first step in WB pulling the plug on their Roku app.

    Hi smallWstudio,

Thanks for posting here in the Roku Community!

We understand you're still having an issue with the TCM channel not playing content, and only a buffer symbol appears. Since TCM has stated that there has been a technical error, it might be best to reach out to them directly and inquire further about the workaround updates in fixing the issue.

We hope that this issue will be resolved soon.

    All the best,
    Kash

It's the same content available when I log in to watch on chromebook. Nothing updated.

I am having the exact same issue. Most concerning as I use Watch TCM app frequently and enjoy the content. My cable carrier is Spectrum.

Same issue here in Columbus Ohio. Could the new shakeup at TCM already be making dramatic changes? Not a word about this on the TCM website or channel.

I have the Watch TCM app on ROKU. For reasons I can’t figure out, I am presently no longer able to play movies listed under the “films” function”. Everything else seems to be working on the app. Any ideas on how to fix this? Is it related to the problem relating to the failure to load new content through the app?

  • My Watch TCM app on ROKU does receive new content, but will not load and play the movies. This started on 14 July and continues to today, 21 July 2023. We are on Spectrum by Los Angeles. No updates anywhere. TCM sent a response that it is being "worked on," but no real data. Rumor has it that Warner's servers, which also hold other streaming apps, have had issues and it is effecting the other streaming services as well.

Warner was consideing shuttering TCM — could this be some devious plot? TCM and it's app are a national and world treasure of irreplaceable art and film history.

    Rise up and protest!

I can't make a company create/screen entertainment for me if they don't want to or choose to cut their losses.

I have been paying for this service and remuneration for lack of service would be nice but I'm not holding my breath.

If they are pulling the plug on TCM just do it but don't continue making myself and many others go through this PAINFUL process.

First, let me say again how much I appreciate all these updates, even if they don't help solve the problem. But: I disagree with you about their pulling the plug. I want them to solve the problem, dammit, so I can go back to enjoying my primary source of entertainment. I am an 80-year-old, and most modern movies leave me cold. Actually, the sad part about the partial restoration of normal operation is that any film I really wanted to see, for example the old black-and-whites with the likes of Myrna Loy, have not been fixed, whereas a movie with an actor I dislike intensely, Red Skelton, is watchable.

The Watch TCM app is now working across the board for us. All systems go! We are all so thankful this national treasure is still supported!!

Yes, the more recently played films do seem to be working.  Although I've been afraid to believe "our long national nightmare" is actually over, it may be. And I, too, am grateful. I'd like to repeat that the existence of this forum was helpful to me, as at first I thought it might only be happening to me.

Be advised that new movies are appearing on WATCH TCM now and as of now when I tried "Dial M for Murder" it asked if I wanted to continue or start over.  Made no difference because NEITHER ONE STARTS THE MOVIE! (Host intro works) 9:15 CDT 7/16/23..

As far a I can tell it's the same all over for subscribers to TCM. TCM seems incapable or doesn't care about this issue. Even the support "BOT"- "Roseann"  doesn't reply any more, not that it helped in any way with the issue.  For me this has gone on for close to a month...so very sad.

It "appears" that things are getting back to normal with the TCM app. It seems to be working on the website and on the Roku as well... and it only took 3 weeks or more. 😆
