Volume automatically increases and decreases

Over 2 years ago, both of my Roku Streaming Sticks started randomly and spontaneously changing the audio volume while playing in multiple apps. Sometimes it gets quieter and sometimes it gets louder. This happens without any change in the TV's volume setting. When it gets louder it is often distorted. I see many references to this issue both here and on the reddit sub, but no solutions. I have automatic volume leveling disabled.

Can somebody from Roku at least acknowledge this is a known issue, and let us know the current status? 2 years seems like an absurd length of time for a bug that was introduced at some point, so one would think changes could be reverted until the cause is discovered. There have been 3 major software updates without a fix for this!

Here are my specs:
Model: 3810X - Roku Streaming Stick+
Software version: 14.1.4
Build: 7709

    Hi QueueUnderflow and Killbot,

Thanks for posting in the Roku Community!

We understand that the volume on your Roku automatically increases and decreases during streaming on any channel. No worries, we are here to help.

Before proceeding, we would like to know if any external audio devices are connected to your TVs.

Let's see if this will work for you.

    1. Restart your Roku device:
Unplug and replug it from your TV and to the power outlet.
    2. Restart your Smart TV
    3. If the issue persists, try plugging the Roku device into another TV and seeing if the issue occurs.

    Please keep us posted.

    Cheers,
    The Roku Community Team

The volume does not increase or decrease rather one day the volume was substantially lower than it was the last time I used it.

I have unplugged from the power supply but not unplugged it from my amp. I will try that.

Killbot Yours is a different issue. I'm talking about the volume being fine for long periods of time and then spontaneously increasing or decreasing.

RokuRiamie-D Like I said it's been happening for 2 years, so the Rokus and TVs have been restarted and power cycled many times over than timespan. It happens on 2 different TVs and they both started doing it at the same time. I have no external audio devices, just the built-in TV speakers.

Thank you for your response QueueUnderflow.

We would like to coordinate this with our Roku team. Please provide us with the following:

        • Roku device info (model, SN, DID, and OS build): (Found in Settings > System > About)
        • Tracker ID: (Press the Home button 5 times, followed by the Back button 5 times)
        • Affected channel
        • Smart TV brand

We will wait for your response.

        Cheers,
        The Roku Community Team
