Yup, I am doing the same thing. I have three Roku devices, 10+ year customer. I will be ordering two new appl TV plus devices shortly and will put an end to this frustration. 😕
Can you update us here if it is better than Roku? I would definitely spend the money to switch if it is. We need a new company to start up that would address this as I feel they would definitely make some money.

I was wondering how long it would take for some ads to become exempt from normal behavior (hiding/blocking using the * asterisk button).
I am sure that comes at a different rate and is likely reserved for preferred channel/content partners.
The ads on the Home Screen don't really bother me at all but I do see how it frustrates users (especially those with young kids) as Roku still lacks the ability to setup different profiles for users.
For those that are actually trying out other devices like Apple TV, hopefully you will honestly update this thread so others can weigh worth the switch, especially since a bit pricier than Roku, Fire, and some other Android boxes.
