The „Tagesschau“ channel will not open
I watch the German „Tagesschau“ channel for years. Now it will not load. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it but it will abort its spooling effort and quit. Anyone watching this channel?

I called ARD / NDR's main number in Germany a little while ago and was told the problem is being worked on. Fingers crossed Tagesschau comes back soon on Roku.
Just wanted to add that the same problem of the App not connecting (spinning wheel) is occurring on all my Apple TVs. Have also been watching for years prior to this outage.
We are having the same problem. There is no indication of what is wrong.

Please be advised that when removing a channel, it's important that you make sure to restart your Roku device before adding the channel back again to ensure a clean channel install. If you are still unable to resolve the issue.

I'm also having the issue with Tagesschau not opening. This started yesterday on Tues April 25th.
What happens is when you click on the icon to open the app, a white circle appears briefly for 1-2 secs, as though the app is trying to load, but then the app exits abruptly and takes you back to the main menu where you can choose which channel to open.
I followed the suggestion to remove the app, restart the Roku device and then to re-add the channel and the same thing happens when you attempt to click on/open the Tagesschau app as I've described above.
I've also been using the Tagesschau app for a very long time, but I first noticed this issue on April 25th.

I first called NDR in Hamburg, then ARD's main studio in Berlin, and was finally directed to Bayerische Rundfunk (BR) in Munich (number: 011 49 0800 5900 789). I spoke with someone who takes calls from viewers/users regarding technical issues and he told me that BR/ARD are aware of the problem and it's completely on their end for why the Tagesschau app isn't working. They're aware of the problem and are busy working on fixing it.
We are having the same problem and can no longer access Tagesschau on Roku.

I'm having the same issue via my Roku device on my TV in Atlanta. Speaking German, I just called the Tagesschau contact number in Hamburg, Germany (link below), and since it's early in the morning there right now (3AM), I was told to call during daytime hours. I'll try calling tomorrow, Saturday, and speak with someone about the Tagesschau app not working on Roku.

The problem started for me, too, on Wed 4/25. Early on Thu 4/26, I sent a message using the contact form on tagesschau.de. Have not had a reply, but the form is not designed for feedback about anything other than the apps that run on devices like computers, browsers, phones, tablets, etc. I tried my best to describe the Roku problem, but who knows if it will get to the right support group. Since I'd sent the message before discovering this thread, I did not include a link to it.
Each time I tried to lauch the channel (and it failed again!), I used the * (star) key to load the channel info, then selected the "Give us Feedback" option, and then selected "Channel failed to launch/load/start". I always got a nice "Thank You", but DOES ROKU PASS THE FEEDBACK ON TO THE CHANNEL PROVIDER???? They should, but probably do not.
I miss Tagesschau!!!!

One additional suggestion we would like for you to try checking for any system updates in Settings>System>System update>Check now and see if you notice any difference.
If the issue remains unresolved, we'd recommend reaching out to the Tagesschau channel directly to report the issue and request additional support. Many channels on the Roku platform are developed and maintained by the channel provider directly, and they'll be able to best assist.

Other than performing a google search, does Roku maintain a database of channel provider contacts for the apps on its devices? It's likely that the Tagesschau provider is based in Germany.

Facing the same problem, tried the steps Roku suggested to no avail.
If Roku believes the issue is with the channel provider, would be super helpful to provide a contact email to us (or better yet Roku lodge a request for a fix with the channel provider).

same problem since today: I have made a system reset, Tagesschau app update, channel removal and reinstall: Nothing helps.
I hope Roku techs will look in to it.
Same issue since April 25. After using it for years almost daily.
Nothing that was mentioned above helps.
Work around is YouTube, but would prefer Roku/Tagesschau fix it !

I have the same issue with the Tagesshau app on Roku. Now I watch the Tagesschau on Amazon Fire TV Cube and it works perfectly.
I tried every think for a couple of days now. Tagesschau is not loading/launching!
This is most likely an issue with the channel's servers not properly recognizing Roku's. Or maybe they dropped support for some reason. =
I too have had the same issue with access thru roku. Have rest and reloaded app on several roku devices but still no luck. My friend is also having the issue with not able to load tagesshau app on roku. Tagesshau app works fine on my ipad. Just can’t use the tagesshau app thru roku. Looks like it is not the app as much as a roku issue. Many of us use the tagesshau app on our tv for daily news from Germany. Can someone please escalate this issue to Roku???
Just because it works on a computer does not mean it's a Roku issue. When devices connect to a service, it checks what type of device they are. It seems as if Tagesschau is having issues with Roku's. I think somebody else posted it also didn't work on an Apple TV+ or something like that.
Same problem, but found a workaround. Launch a browser in iPhone (I use Safari), go to Tageschau website, launch program, and then Airplay onto Roku TV.
I again called NDR's main number in Hamburg this morning (011 49 40 41560), and because it's the May 1, May Day holiday in Germany, I was told no one was around in the main technical department at the station. I will call again tomorrow! Ugh...

We are having the same problem. There clearly has been a change to the app. I tried several versions of Roku. I can still watch it on the computer but not Roku
