Roku Ultra No Audio Through Line Out on ViewSonic Elite XG32OU

Our Setup

ViewSonic Elite XG 32OU 32" 4K monitor Audio Out (3.5mm/1/8") ---> Audio Mixer --> Speakers

Audio is heard on the following devices utilizing the above configuration:

  • MacPro (DisplayPort)
  • Windows 10 PC (HDMI)
  • Sony Playstation 4 Pro (HDMI)
  • Roku 2 (HDMI)

However, no audio is heard from Roku Ultra (HDMI) purchased on 21 November 2023.

Tried every option in Audio Settings --> Audio --> Steaming Audio Format/Digital Output Format

Unplugging the Audio Out 3.5mm, one can hear sound from the ViewSonic's built-in speakers, but the Roku Ultra seems incapable of routing the audio through the jack.

Tried Roku provided HDMI cord in HDMI 2.0 & 2.1 ports = no change

Tried alternative HDMI cords = no change

This is rather frustrating seeing how the Roku 2 purchased in 2016 functions as intended yet the 'latest & greatest' Roku fails to properly route audio.

Hopefully this can be resolved via a software update.

The Roku device wouldn't have anything to do with routing the audio to the jack on the monitor.  I suspect the monitor can't handle whatever the Roku is giving it.  I'm surprised that the various "Stereo" options in the Roku's Audio settings don't work.  Just as an experiment, if you enable one of the "Volume modes" while a video is playing do you get any sound?  Also, do you get the various sounds when navigating around the menus and Home Screen?  Have you asked ViewSonic about it?
