Roku turns black when hooked to dvd player

I have a ONN Roku tv, the tv works great for everything except when I hook up to any of the HDMI ports to my dvd player all I get is a black screen. The tv knows it connected but won’t show the video

    We see that you want to connect your DVD player to your Onn Roku TV. To do this, you can use HDMI cables or a composite AV cable with red, yellow, and white plugs. If your device supports HDMI, it's best to use this connection for better image and sound quality.

    • Have you used this DVD with your Roku TV before?
    • Have you tried connecting the DVD to a different TV to see if it works there?
