Roku should offer a subscription model to get rid of ad banners and posters

How about this? I would gladly pay for a subscription to get rid of advertisements banners, posters and all other forced items on my Roku Ultra. Why is this not a thing?

Why is Roku not offering such a paid adfree experience? Atleast offer it, and let each user decide wether he wants pay for an adfree experience, or wether he chooses the ads experience.

Many apps offer a paid adfree subscription model, and I think Roku shouldn’t be the exception.

  • So you want to advocate giving Roku money just in order to remove a couple of ads on the Home Screen that you can easily ignore? It takes a couple of seconds to choose your app, don't even look at the ads. I don't.

Plus you don't even see both ads at the same time. One is to the left and one shows up to the right when you highlight apps. It's annoying but not a huge deal and definitely not worth paying to remove. It's not like ads breaking into your videos.

Don’t worry it would be MY money not yours. And if Roku ever implemented such adfree service, it would still be a choice. So if the current model doesn’t bother you, then that’s good for you I guess.

I rather get rid of ads at all costs and use the space that’s wasted for that for some customization and useful tools. Especially the huge right side poster space, wasted for a stupid poster ad.

Oh I agree with you completely. Ads are annoying and those ads waste space on your Home Screen where you could have more apps showing on your screen at once without having to scroll down.

I just hate the idea of anyone having to give Roku money to get rid of ads that they put there in the first place to get in the way. It's like rewarding someone for their bad behavior.

It's like the same thing for the Roku remotes and the preset app buttons on the bottom. It would be so much better for the customer if we could program each of those buttons to do what we wanted.

Instead of having Roku assigning what those buttons do and we can't change them, because a lot of the time we get buttons for apps that we don't use and don't even have installed. Roku only does this to make money from those streaming companies selling their brand on the button.

  • Maybe a few people would pay for that, but most people would not.
