Roku not working on Samsung smart TV, saying "check device power"

I cannot get roku ultra to work on samsung S95D smart tv. Gives Check device power every time app or HDMI source is selected.

I have tried: disconnecting both Power and HDMI cables. Switching HDMI ports. On Samsung TV - HDMI cable test (passed), and used connection guide on tv. I can see the roku when using HDMI guide (troubleshooting) on the tv, but then I get your device is now setup, then the tv recognizes that it's a ROKU and changes from manual source input to "Roku input" and simultaneously the roku powers off and the tv says check device power.

      Hi, Aser and VictorV.

Thanks for reaching out here in the Roku Community!

We understand that you're having issues with your Roku Ultra, and we want to assist you in getting back to streaming.

To assist us in understanding the matter, could you kindly provide more information about it?

      • How are you powering your Roku Ultra? Are you using the TV port or plugging it directly into a power outlet? If you're using a power outlet, maybe you could try switching to a different one to see if that helps with any power issues.
      • Do you see any light in the device when switching the inputs? If you don’t, try checking or changing the power adapter, as it could be causing the problem.
      • Is this the first time you're setting up the device, or has this been working before?
      • Have you tried it on a different TV so we can isolate it even further?

With all these details, we would be able to find out the real cause of the problem. Don't forget to keep us posted in case you need more help.

You may also need to visit this support article for more tips: What to do if your Roku streaming player will not power on.

      Thanks,
      Emman

The Roku i have issues with is a 4802X. I also have an older 4670X which I just plug into  the same power cable and same HDMI cable - which works just fine. The power is from an outlet and HDMI cable is new. The newer Roku (4802X) just doesn't turn on or turns off (if on prior) after selecting the App on the TV. I can manually turn it on by selecting (pushing) buttons on the roku control and it stays on but the Samsung S95D doesn't recognize the power as being on. This Samsung TV is a newer TV and it's the 77" one. For now I am using the old Roku 4670X without any issues.
