    Same problem here:

AirTV2, Multiple Roku Devices: 2x Roku Stick 4K, 2x Roku Ultra+. All the same problem, no audio on OTA channels. All hardwired via Ethernet on 1GB fiber connection. (and yes you can hardwire the sticks, you just have to use app as remote)

I've done all the update checking, router resetting, remove and added Sling channel on Roku.

It's getting annoying, but here's a quick work around I found:

When you open an OTA Channel that's missing audio, press down arrow on the remote and then select a recent channel that is not OTA. Once loaded, then hit down arrow again and reselect the OTA channel you were just on. When you go back, it should have audio.

  • I also have this same problem (video but no audio) on some of my OTA stations.  Problem started on 04/30/2023.  I am using an AirTV box that is ethernet connected to my wireless router.  AirTV box was removed from network, then reconnected and set up with the Sling App - same problem.  (This was done multiple times.)  Wireless router was reset - no change to problem.  All of my OTA stations have audio and video on my ROKU enabled TCL smart TV.  On my TV's connected to Roku devices (Express and Premier+ models) all of my OTA stations have video but some do not have audio.  I have updated the ROKU software and reset ROKU devices.  Still have the same problem.

As of 1:30pm EST 5/2/23, Sling said "....Yes I was able to check it here and there seems to be report about this and our engineering team is already aware and fixing the issue."  We'll see if & when they fix.

Update: 5/5/23, definitely Sling AirTV2 issue with OTA audio. I broke down and purchased a TABLO. Reconnected OTA antenna to TABLO, ethernet cable and hard drive and downloaded TABLO app to ROKU. No issues with signal whatsoever. So handshake issue between OTA signal, AIRTV2 and ROKU lies with Sling. Unsat!

  • I believe I  have the same or similar problem.  Nearly every time I open a Sling OTA channel via AirTV there is no audio.  So then I close the OTA channel in question and reopen it which usually, if not always, produces audio.  It's also repeatable because my wife thought I meant exit the Sling app and reopen it which doesn't work.  This just started in the past week or two.  Since it happens so often and is repeatable it should be fixed by now.

      Hi Community users,

      Thanks for your post.

We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. Have you tried to remove the channel and see if it helps? If you haven't tried it yet, you can remove the affected channel and re-install it.

To ensure the process is successful, restart your device before adding the channel back in. We would recommend doing this from the Settings menu by navigating to Settings > System > Power (If you do not see a Power submenu, skip to the next step.) > System restart.

For detailed instructions, refer to this Support link: How do I resolve channel playback issues?

If you are still experiencing an issue from one channel after attempting the suggestions above, videos from other channels play fine, contact the channel provider's customer support team to report the issue and get help. Channels on Roku are maintained by the channel developer themselves.

    Hi dwajda

Thanks for posting in the Roku Community!

For more information about that channel's content and functionality, you'll want to contact the channel provider support directly to inquire further. Many channels on Roku are developed and maintained by the channel provider themselves.

I am having the same issue with Roku, no audio with sling OTA channels. This is definitely an issue on Roku's end because I don't have this problem on my Fire stick TV or my android tablet that get there signal from the same AIR TV and router. I have reloaded Roku and Sling apps and loaded all the recent updates and still no audio. If Roku's technical department can't fix this issue I'll be buying Fire sticks to replace all my Roku devices.

  • I had the same problem starting in April. Work around. I have a a smart TV which has the Sling app. I select the Sling app ( not using Roku) and it works fine every time. Roku has an issue.

If you have already tried various troubleshooting steps, including resetting your Roku device, using a new Roku device, resetting your Airtv2, using a new HDMI cable, and even using a new antenna, but you're still not receiving audio on your Roku device, here are a few additional suggestions you can try:

    1. Audio settings on Roku: Ensure that the audio settings on your Roku device are correctly configured. Go to Settings > Audio > HDMI and make sure the correct audio output option is selected. You can try changing the audio output from "Auto" to "Stereo" or "Dolby Digital" to see if that resolves the issue.

    2. Audio settings on the TV: Check the audio settings on your TV as well. Make sure the TV's audio settings are not set to an incompatible option or muted. Adjust the volume and check if the audio works properly on other devices connected to your TV.

    3. Audio cables and connections: Double-check all the audio cables and connections between your Roku device, Airtv2, and your TV. Ensure they are securely plugged in and not damaged. You can also try using different audio cables to eliminate the possibility of a faulty cable causing the issue.

    4. Check with your service provider: If you are using a cable or satellite service, it's worth contacting your service provider to check if there are any known issues or configurations that might be causing the audio problem specifically with your setup.

    5. Factory reset Roku: As a last resort, you can try performing a factory reset on your Roku device. Keep in mind that this will erase all settings and preferences on your Roku, so you will need to set it up again from scratch. To perform a factory reset, go to Settings > System > Advanced system settings > Factory reset.

If none of these suggestions resolve the audio issue, it's recommended to reach out to Roku support or the manufacturer of your Airtv2 for further assistance. They will have more specialized knowledge about their products and can provide you with more specific troubleshooting steps or guide you through additional solutions.

Yes all of these things have been tried and as you can see from the many posts with the same problem this is a Roku issue. I do not have this issue with the Firestick.

And I thought I was reaching out to Roku support. Why did the last person ask for all the technical information if this wasn’t support? They said”Once we have this information, we will be able to pass it along to the appropriate Roku team to investigate further.”

Please provide information on how to reach support.

This is happening to 13 different customers of mine that use Sling and Roku devices. All 3 are fine when switching to the sling app on their smart TVs and from the android app on their phones.

I moved them to fire sticks to fix the issue since this is going on a month and it seems nobody is going to fix it.

Just saying my piece here, but I don't care if this is sling making a bad app on Roku or Roku making a change that broke slings app. When you have a month of customer complaints and you can't tell customers why YOUR hardware is the ONLY one having issues....that isn't slings fault.

Roku could at least say Sling is no longer compatible until they upgrade their app. They won't even do that. So I won't be recommending Roku to my customers anymore.

Looks like I get to make some unwanted money ripping everyone's Rokus out and replacing them with Fire sticks.
