haneef Thanks for the response. We suggest the recommended troubleshooting for these issues based on what typically helps resolve them. If you have already tried those suggestions, please let us know what you observe when trying the following:
- During playback of content inside a streaming channel, press the * key on your remote. A menu will open on the lefthand side of the screen. Look for 'Volume mode'. If this is turned on, try disabling or turning off this feature. Does that resolve the issue you are experiencing?
- In Settings>Audio>Audio mode, try selecting 'Auto'. If already set to Auto, try selecting Stereo and see if the same issue occurs.
If that doesn't resolve the issue, please generate an issue tracker report ID the next time this behavior occurs by pressing the Home button 5 times quickly, followed by the Back button 5 times quickly. This type of information helps us provide additional details to our team when passing along reports of issues. You can see more about this here: https://community.roku.com/t5/Welcome-to-the-Roku-Community/How-to-Create-a-Help-or-Support-Topic-in-the-Community/td-p/62
We can continue to help look into the issue from there.
Thanks,
Tanner
Since the recent system update, the audio is horrible. I thought it was the TV, but with the antenna the audio is great. So it is the Roku Streaming Stick. I tried all the troubleshooting suggested by Roku, but nothing is working and honestly I would prefer not to have to buy a new one. Is there anything else I could try? It is highly annoying. I wonder if other streaming services are doing the same... maybe I should just change service and go with Apple Tv or something similar.

This is now a loooong time problem. My Roku Ultra regularly has this issue. I did all that stuff they mention (and more cause I thought it was my TV, till we plugged in a different TV and same problem). The only thing that has worked so far is a system restart. It works till it happens again and then repeat. ROKU, WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO REPEATEDLY DO THIS TO FIX THE ULTRA ROKU!!! Find a permanent solution.

I have the same problem in all channels and all streaming. I did what your colleague has suggested (audio in auto, volume setting disable). No improvement. It is very annoying, especially in these days of stay at home.

Thanks for the note.
Are you having audio issues on all of the channels or specific channels? What troubleshooting steps have you tried already?
Please keep us posted and we will continue to assist you from there.
Thanks,

I have a Roku and a Song BluEsy player w/apps on the same television. Just today, trying to watch Prime Video on the Roku yields choppy audio (which so sucks for movie soundtracks). Switching over to the Sony and watching the same content on the same platform was just fine. Be straight up with us; are you intentionally operating at diminished quality due to the increased demand for bandwidth during this pandemic with so many folk having to telework?

I actually have this problem since the last update that Roku did of its system. I'd appreciate to have a straight answer that solve the problem or to get (for free) a replacement for the stick.

System Restart didn't work for me, nothing is working. I want Roku to replace for free my #RokuStreamingStick as this is the problem in my case. I tried EVERYTHING Roku said, I tried restarting... nothing works.

I also have tried all those things on my Roku ultra, and absolutely cannot watch anything. It's sounds as if the audio has slowed way down. Looks like I'll be buying another Nvidia shield or the new Chromecast with Android tv when it comes out. As others have said, Roku, you need to get your **bleep** together. You used to have great working products but now it seems all you're worried about is making a dime.

So, we have discovered for whatever reason when ours has the garbled sound...if we use the Roku remote on the phone...it fixes it. When we use the regular Roku remote...it's still garbled. Not only have we had issues with the garbled sound but also loss of sound altogether on the Roku altogether but TV still has sound. We've tried changing all sound settings and restarting and none of that fixes it...only switching between roku and phone roku remote.

It happens on every app through Roku, that’s how I know it’s not my $4000 tv.
I’ve resolved the problem temporarily by unhooking roku to the electrical outlet since resetting anything in Audio never resolves it.
temporarily til the next random time it acts up. It’s the the hdmi cable, it’s not the tv, it’s not the Audio settings.... it’s the roku. - soda-pop6 years agoReel Rookie
I just replaced my first Roku Express because it was circling the drain most of the time (waiting for sync) and was especially bad for playing recordings. No sync problems with new system thankfully, but when I turn the system on there is no sound. With the new system, most times I have to 'restart system' after turning on to get sound. It's very annoying. Maybe it would be a good thing to place a restart button on the remote! I have repeated all recommendations of cable changes (short cables) and changing ports several times and nothing makes it better but taking the time to restart system. Very disappointed with Roku and wish I had switched to Firestick and may do just that soon unless there is a better solution. Very frustrating.
